Saturday, March 10, 2018- The sweetest event of the year is just around the corner and it's an event you won't want to miss it!
Down Syndrome Association of Central California (DSACC) is a local 501(c)3 community benefit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for all people whose lives are touched by Down syndrome. Through education, support and social programs and opportunities, DSACC works to create a community that accepts, includes and appreciates individuals with Down syndrome and their value as part of our community. DSACC works closely with individuals and families of all ages; from a prenatal diagnosis & birth through the golden years of life, DSACC is here to serve as a guide and resource for this incredible journey.
Sweetheart Ball is an incredible event that helps raise funds for the vital programs provided by the organization. A few of the many programs funds will help include Parents Reaching Out which connects new families to a volunteer family that happens to be farther along in the journey of raising a child with Down syndrome; social clubs such as 8 & Unders, Junior 321, Club 2.0 & Club 321- whose purposes are to connect individuals and families to new friends & social opportunities!
Sweetheart ball is not only a vital funding resource for the organization but also an opportunity to honor those who have gone above and beyond in the past year through their support and dedication to DSACC's mission. This year DSACC will be honoring out own advocate, Emily Starr Ford with our Sweetheart Ambassador Award.
Ford, 31, is a young woman who happens to have Down syndrome and has demonstrated true dedication to educating people about the capabilities of herself and others who have Down syndrome. Ford works hard helping collect auction items, serving as a member of the DSACC Advocate committee, speaking to groups about what it is like Down syndrome, and working for two local childcare providers.
Guests will enjoy dinner and have the chance to bid on some incredible silent auction items- from sporting tickets, paintings created by local advocates, to giant gift baskets filled with goodies! And let's not forget the Dessert Dash! Each table pools their money and the table with the highest amount is able to choose their cake or dessert first from a luscious selection...followed by the second highest bidding table, so on and so forth but don't be slow because table order is called out quickly! But the fun does not end there, with our adult advocates and the talented live band, The Valley Cats, there is guaranteed to be dancing and fun late into the night.
